Then Breaker, now Bengal, Terrell Owens (TO), a physical specimen, always finds a way to keep himself in shape. This time the Breakers found Owens.
On a Scouting trip, team President Curt Pickering and Director of Operations Sergio Hernandez ran into Terrell Owens in Los Angeles. Owens has always been a basketball aficionado and a gym rat which made it easy for the Breaker executives to enthrall TO with the idea of him playing in Las Vegas for the Breakers. Without hesitation, Owens agreed to partner up and play for the city of Santa Barbara.
Terrell Owens joined the Breakers to face the Korean National team which he contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assist to boost the team past Korea by the score of 89-87. While the Koreans proved to be a sharp shooting team, Owens provided that extra spark on defense to slow them down just enough.
Owens has been on several teams in the NFL, making splashes all over the league. Despite those splashes, none will be bigger for Santa Barbarians than his latest debut as a Breaker. Terrell Owens is a Cincinnati Bengal, but will remain in our hearts forever as a Santa Barbara Breaker.
